Even the most amicable divorces can often be stressful and upsetting. We understand it is a difficult time for all parties and so aim to make the separation process as stress free and simple as is humanly possible.
Our Head of Family Law, Kim Charles, has spent nearly three decades dealing with divorce cases and is able to use this experience to guide you through the divorce process.
The first step on your journey is to realise that there may be three separate sets of negotiations/proceedings, the divorce (the procedure to bring the marriage to an end), financial remedy proceedings and proceedings regarding the children.
The divorce is normally the most straightforward part. We always use the government’s online portal, rather than a paper application to the court, as this is a much more efficient way of obtaining the divorce. We have the expertise to ensure that the forms are completed correctly from the outset and that the relevant accompanying documents are uploaded. We take all steps in connection with the divorce promptly so that you do not have to worry about the process.
We will sit down with you and work out what your priorities are within the divorce and create a strategy to help you best achieve your aims.
It is our belief that smiple and regular communication with clients helps to reduce anxiety during the divorce process and ensure that we are headed in the right direction.
You will be provided with a direct dial telephone number for the solicitor dealing with your case. If the solicitor is not available your call will be returned promptly. We will also respond to emails promptly as we understand how important it is to be able to obtain timely advice from your solicitor when you are worried about something.
We provide you with information sheets regarding the divorce process and the financial remedy process as the very beginning of the case so that you have written documentation to consult throughout your case.
Our solicitors will fight to achieve you the best possible outcome in terms of a financial settlement and arrangements for children.
We will always consider other dispute resolution methods before making applications to the court in order to encourage an early and cost effective settlement. We will only use court proceedings as a last resort. If court proceedings are unavoidable, we will provide you with the support you need to deal with the proceedings with confidence and dignity.
Whatever your requirements are for an upcoming divorce we will devise a tailor-made strategy that best suits your needs in the most cost-effective manner possible.
