Wills
Your Last Will and Testament
Although everybody believes that at some point they will make a Will, statistics show that 70% of people in the UK die without one.
A Will is not just a mechanism for deciding during your lifetime who you would like to benefit from your estate when you die, it is also a method of arranging your estate in such a way as to minimise your liability to Inheritance Tax. If you die without a Will, your estate will be distributed in accordance with the rules of intestacy. This may give rise to an unexpected Inheritance Tax liability, and could result in your closest family and friends failing to receive the legacies you would otherwise wish to leave them.
At Meaby and Co we provide discrete and comprehensible Will advice.
By considering your personal circumstances we are able to establish:
• Who you would like to benefit from your estate (beneficiaries)
• Who you would like to manage your affairs following your death (Executors)
• Whether or not you may be liable for inheritance tax upon your death
• How to minimise your Inheritance tax liability if you are liable
Your Will can also be used to appoint guardians for your minor children upon your death.
At Meaby & Co, we understand that Wills are not just a tool for the elderly or for the wealthy, they are an important legal arrangement to ensure that whatever your circumstances, you have the peace of mind of knowing your affairs are in order following your death.
